Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play Hera Syndulla, a Twi’lek pilot and leader who was also part of the Ghost crew in Rebels. Hera is a brave and compassionate rebel who fought against the Empire and helped establish the New Republic. She also had a romantic relationship with Kanan Jarrus, a Jedi who died in Rebels.
Eman Esfandi will play Ezra Bridger, a young Force-sensitive who was trained by Kanan Jarrus in Rebels. Ezra was born on Lothal, a planet that was occupied by the Empire.
He joined the Ghost crew and became a rebel hero who fought against Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and Grand Admiral Thrawn. He also had a special bond with animals and purrgils, giant space whales.
Lars Mikkelsen will play Grand Admiral Thrawn, a blue-skinned alien who was one of the most brilliant and ruthless commanders of the Empire. Thrawn was introduced in Rebels as the main antagonist of the Ghost crew.
He was obsessed with studying his enemies’ culture and art to find their weaknesses. He also had a personal interest in Jedi artifacts and Force-users. He disappeared along with Ezra Bridger at the end of Rebels when they were dragged into hyperspace by purrgils.
Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno will play unnamed villains who appear to be Sith or dark side users. They are seen wielding red lightsabers and confronting Ahsoka in the trailer.
Plot
The plot of Ahsoka is still largely unknown, but it is expected to continue the storylines from The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Mandalorian. The show will be set after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of the First Order. It will follow Ahsoka as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
One of the main plot points that Ahsoka will likely explore is the search for Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn. In Rebels, Ezra sacrificed himself to save his friends and Lothal from Thrawn’s attack. He used his Force connection with purrgils to drag Thrawn’s ship into hyperspace with him. His fate was left unknown, but his friends vowed to find him.
