Diksia.com - Pop star Britney Spears was slapped by NBA security guard Victor Wembanyama Wednesday night (5/7/2023) after requesting a photo at a Las Vegas restaurant, TMZ reports.
TMZ said Britney Spears and her husband Sam Asghari were having dinner with two other friends at The Catch at the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas when Britney saw Wembanyama.
Spears, a Wembanyama fan, approached the NBA player and patted his shoulder for a photo, TMZ reported.
According to TMZ, San Antonio Spurs safety director Damian Smith then slapped Spears in the face, causing her to tremble.
Smith later apologized to Spears, TMZ reports, and said she didn’t know who he was when he slapped her.
In a post on social media, Britney Spears commented on the incident.
He called it a “traumatic,” “brutal,” and “demoralizing” experience.
Britney Spears said she knows Wembanyama and approached him to congratulate him on his success.
“I just patted him on the back,” Spears wrote.
“Then security came back and slapped me in the face in front of the crowd without looking back.”
“I almost fell, but my glasses fell off.”
In a lengthy post on her Instagram account, Britteny Spears added that the incident was no laughing matter.
“Seeing players smile and laugh is cruel and demoralizing,” he wrote on Instagram.
“(height) I am 5’3 (160 cm) and he is 7’4 (223 cm) … ”
After the incident, TMZ reported that Britney Spears and the Wembanyama security team consulted before Spears filed a police report.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told Insiders that police are investigating an alleged “argument” at the restaurant’s location that night, but declined to confirm who was involved.
A statement from Las Vegas police said the incident was documented in a police report and no arrests were made.
Victor Wembanyama is a 19-year-old French basketball star who previously made headlines for being picked by the Spurs as the number one pick in the 2023 NBA draft.
Meanwhile, it is known that Britney Spears has been interested in sports since she was young and also played on her high school basketball team.
