Zane and Kas are heartbroken by Damien’s decision, but they respect his authority as the alpha. They try to communicate with each other through their mind link, but they are constantly interrupted by Damien, who blocks their connection. They also have to deal with the jealousy and hostility of some pack members, who do not accept Kas as one of them.

Meanwhile, Lucas continues to plot against them, as he sends more rogues to attack them. He also kidnaps Kas’s best friend, Mia, who is a human, and tortures her for information about Kas. He learns that Kas has a necklace that belonged to her biological mother, who was a phoenix. He realizes that the necklace is the key to unlocking Kas’s full potential and power.

He devises a plan to lure Kas into a trap by using Mia as bait. He sends a video message to Kas, showing her Mia’s condition and threatening to kill her if she does not come to him. He also tells her that he knows the truth about her parents and that he can tell her everything if she surrenders herself to him.

Kas is torn between saving her friend and risking her life. She decides to go alone, without telling anyone, hoping that she can rescue Mia and escape from Lucas. She leaves a note for Zane, telling him that she loves him and asking him to forgive her.

Zane finds the note and realizes what Kas has done. He is angry and worried about her. He tells Kade and Damien about Lucas’s message and convinces them to help him save Kas and Mia. They gather some warriors from the pack and follow Kas’s scent to Lucas’s hideout.

They arrive at the hideout, where they find Kas and Mia tied up in a cage. Lucas greets them with a smirk and tells them that he has been waiting for them. He reveals his plan to use Kas’s blood to create an army of hybrids that will obey him. He also tells them that he killed Kas’s parents when she was a baby, because they refused to join him.

He then injects Kas with a syringe that contains a serum that will activate her phoenix genes and make her burn everything around her. He hopes that this will cause her to lose control and kill everyone, including herself. He then leaves them in the cage and watches from a safe distance.
