95 million posts created
Since its launch, Threads has created 95 million posts in less than 24 hours.
In addition, new users who have registered with Threads have reached 30 million new registrations.
“Wow, 30 million signups this morning. Feels like the start of something special, but we still have a lot of work to do developing this app,” wrote Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday (06/07/2023) from his Threads account zuck).
According to The Verge, the Threads application will be linked to your Instagram account.
So if you want to delete your Threads account, you need to delete your Instagram account as well.
This Threads app has no DM capabilities, reverse chronological follow feeds, or planned integration with the decentralized ActivityPub protocol.
Still, data released by Zuckerberg Thursday morning suggests the Threads app has a bright future to compete with Twitter.
Ever since Elon Musk limited the number of visible posts, many Internet users have resorted to uses similar to threads.
In fact, apps like Mastodon and Bluesky are also benefiting as Twitter users switch to other apps.
This is how threads work
According to The New York Times, Threads is positioned as an application that allows people to have real-time public conversations with each other.
Threads also helps improve Instagram, the top app in the meta product suite.
Instagram has threads tied tightly to itself.
If you want to register for the new app, you first need an Instagram account.
For those who already have an Instagram account, the username on Threads will also be the same as on Instagram.
If desired, users can import a list of people they follow on Instagram directly into Threads.
Users verified by Instagram will also be verified in the new app.
Users can set their Threads account as private or public.
