Diksia.com - Iceland has been named the world’s most peaceful country for the 15th year in a row, according to a new report from the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP).
According to cnbc.com, the IEP recently released its annual 2023 Global Peace Index, which ranks the countries best known for their peace and tranquility.
In the list of the most peaceful countries in the world for 2023, Iceland comes first.
Denmark and Ireland followed in second and third place.
Out of 163 countries on the list, Indonesia is ranked 53rd.
The IEP measures the level of negative security in a country based on three areas of security, namely:
- Ongoing national and international conflicts
- Public safety and security
- military
Overall, the index found the world is slightly less safe than last year due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
These results are unchanged from the 2022 survey results.

Iceland has remained the most peaceful country in the world since the study was first published in 2008.
The country is also the third happiest country in the world after Finland and Denmark.
According to National Geographic, more than 60 percent of the country’s population lives in the capital, Reykjavik.
In Iceland, school up to college is free for all Icelanders.
Each student also receives Danish and English lessons.
The second country on the list is Denmark.
According to US News and World Report, Denmark’s capital Copenhagen is home to institutions such as the Copenhagen Stock Exchange and serves as a link between Northern Europe and the rest of the world.
People living in Denmark pay some of the highest taxes in the world on up to half of their income, but there’s a reason for that.
Due to high taxes, Denmark is able to provide its citizens with most healthcare options free of charge, students do not have to pay tuition fees.
In addition, they receive grants to cover the costs during their studies.
In addition to subsidized childcare, parents will also receive a pension and be provided with caregivers to visit them at home, the government website said.
Ireland completed the top three.
Ireland is the second largest island in Europe after the United Kingdom.
Known for its lush, green fields, Ireland is nicknamed the “Emerald Isle” by National Geographic.
According to a report by the Central Statistics Office, Ireland’s population has grown by 10 per cent over the past decade.
According to the report’s authors, the country’s population growth is among the fastest in the European Union.
