DIKSIA.COM - TOKYO, – Japan Airlines told Kyodo News Agency that all 379 passengers and crew on the plane were successfully evacuated without suffering life-threatening injuries.
It was said that there were eight children among the passengers.
As previously reported, a Japan Airlines plane caught fire on the runway at Tokyo Haneda Airport on Tuesday (February 1, 2024).
A Japan Airlines spokesman added that the passenger plane caught fire after colliding with a Japan Coast Guard aircraft after landing on the runway or taxiway.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism said it was conducting an investigation.
Meanwhile, a former airline pilot named Roger Whitefield said it was a miracle that all of the passengers and crew on the Japan Airlines plane survived the incident.
“We just experienced a miracle. “The way they removed all the passengers from the plane was almost unbelievable,” Roger told Sky News.
He said footage and images showed smoke coming from one of the back doors of the Japan Airlines plane, meaning visibility inside the plane was “definitely zero.”
“It is a miracle for the crew to get all the passengers out. There are no two ways about doing this,” he added.
