“My husband is very frugal and we managed to save over a million yuan,” Wang told Tide News.
“Money cannot make up for his loss, but it represents our sincere intentions and was his father’s last wish.”
Wang’s clues were only his daughter’s maiden name, Jiang Ling, and a red birthmark on his left arm.
Another clue comes from 1991, when Wang was told that his daughter lived with a good family in Beijing’s Haidian district.
Wang also provided his DNA to the Hangzhou Public Security Bureau.
He hopes technological advances in missing person search databases will help reunite his family.
After the story aired in mainland China and circulated online, many people expressed their support for the search for Wang’s daughter.
One person said, “I totally understand how this mom feels.”
“Her husband was imprisoned when she was 21, and at 22 she gave birth alone.”
“Under such circumstances, when the family took the child, it was beyond his control.”
“There is nothing more touching than parental love,” said another.
“I hope he finds his daughter soon.”
A third person questions the legality of their daughter’s adoption:
“The so-called elder of the man’s family is not the legal guardian.”
“You have no right to leave the child with anyone else.”
“If they get any benefits from doing so, it could be human trafficking.”
