DIKSIA.COM - SEOUL, North Korea is demonstrating its military might to enthuse neighboring countries like South Korea and Japan as well as Western countries by holding the largest military parade in the city of Pyongyang on Thursday evening (07/27/2023) local time.
“The military parade was attended by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, as well as Chinese and Russian delegations, including Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu,” KCNA said.
According to North Korean state news agency KCNA, the military parade was held to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War, which Pyongyang is celebrating as “Victory Day.”
Launch of a ballistic missile
The military parade came a week after North Korea launched several ballistic missiles toward the Yellow Sea between China and the Korean peninsula.
According to the South Korean General Staff (JCS), the most recent North Korean missile launch took place on Saturday (07/22/2023) in the morning local time.
“The intelligence agencies of South Korea and the United States are analyzing the launch while keeping an eye out for signs of further activity,” the JCS said.
Earlier, Pyongyang also fired two ballistic missiles after the US submarine docked in South Korean ports.
“We strongly condemn North Korea's consecutive missile launches as a provocative act that undermines the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and the international community, and in clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions,” JCS said.
