Diksia.com - WASHINGTON – Cocaine was found in the US White House or White House Washington DC.
The White House is the presidential palace of the United States of America (US) as well as the official residence of the president and his family during their term of office.
The discovery of cocaine was shocking.
Local time Sunday (February 7, 2023) evening, cocaine was found in the center of the White House, the West Wing.
As a result of this cocaine discovery, portions of the Presidential Complex were closed by the Washington Fire Department.
As quoted by The Washington Post, the United States (US) Secret Service or Presidential Guard confirmed this.
“Unknown object found closing part of White House, Fire Department declined to comment after directing other questions,” Washington Post, Tuesday (April 7, 2023) reported to
Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the material was undergoing further testing to determine its identity and officials were investigating how it got into the White House.
He said the Washington, D.C. Fire Department determined that the material found in the West Wing work area did not pose a threat.
The West Wing is the area connected to the Executive Building where the President resides and includes an oval room, cabinet rooms, a press area, offices and workspaces for the President’s advisers and staff.
On the same night, a member of the Hazardous Materials Team conducted an inspection of the material.
“There is a yellow bar indicating cocaine hydrochloride,” the official said in a radio message sent at 8:49 p.m. and recorded by a website that aggregates radio communications from government agencies.
A person familiar with the investigation, who spoke on condition of anonymity about the ongoing investigation, said radio conversations had taken place between the District of Columbia Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials team and other officials within the department regarding the inspection of the substance.
President Biden and his family were at Camp David around 6 p.m. Sunday when uniformed Secret Service agents discovered the substance while patrolling the West Wing.
This led to the temporary closure of parts of the White House complex while emergency responders assessed whether the material was dangerous.
Hundreds of people regularly work in the West Wing of the White House.
The Secret Service added that “the Washington, D.C. Fire Department was called in to assess the object and quickly determine that it is not dangerous.”
“There is an ongoing investigation into how and why this material entered the White House,” the spokesperson said.
The Washington Post, citing an online database of emergency response communications, reported that firefighters from the Washington, D.C. Department’s Hazardous Materials Team radioed the results of an inspection of the object.
“There is a yellow bar indicating cocaine hydrochloride,” said a radio message.
Two “officials familiar with the matter” confirmed to the Washington Post that the substance found in the White House was cocaine.
