Diksia.com - On Tuesday (April 7, 2023), a total of 43 people, including 12 children, were injured in a Russian missile attack on the city of Pervomaisky in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

The Ukrainian military commander said the attack may have targeted people attending the funeral of Ukrainian soldier Dali Fadinko, who died in fighting near Bakhmut.

“Russians are targeting the place where the ceremony took place,” Major Maksim Zorin, a former Ukrainian military commander, told Telegram.

Ukrainian television footage showed a nine-story house destroyed, windows shattered and black smoke billowing up.

A car burst into flames near the building.

Kharkiv Governor Ole Sinekhubov announced that at 13:35 local time on Tuesday (7 April 2023), an Iskandar missile hit the village of Pervomaysky.

The attack damaged an apartment building housing 2,000 people.

Meanwhile, Mayor Pervomaisky said residents were injured by broken glass.

“So far, no casualties have been reported from the attack, but most people were injured by broken glass,” Pervomaisky’s deputy mayor Anton Orekhov told local media outlet Sashpilne Kharkiv.

“At least half of the neighborhood is uninhabitable,” said Orekhov.

Ukrainian Attorney General Andriy Kostin said there were only residential buildings in the area.

He also said the youngest of the 38 injured was a three-month-old baby.

Two infants aged 10 and 12 months were also injured.

About 100 people attended the funeral, according to The Guardian.

Some of the mourners wore military uniforms, others in civilian clothes.

Citizens in Panic

Many Ukrainian citizens who were at the scene when the missile attack occurred testified.

“We weren’t home. We were walking in the park. I don’t know what happened, but we heard an explosion, possibly a missile,” local resident Ara told The New York Post. I heard,” he said.

“I remember we were thrown into the air when we heard the explosion. I couldn’t stop and my legs were still shaking,” he continued.

The city of Pervomaisky is located about 90 km south of the city of Kharkov in the Donbass region.

This area is close to the front lines of the Battle of Donbass.
