The British Prime Minister categorically rejects the use of cluster munitions
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has confirmed that the UK is a signatory to the Convention against Cluster Munitions.
Sunak’s call came after the US agreed to ship the controversial weapons to Ukraine.
“We will continue to do our part to help Ukraine against Russia’s illegal and unprovoked invasion, but we are doing so by providing heavy battle tanks and, more recently, long-range weapons,” Sunak said.
Attack on Lyman Ukraine
Eight people were killed and 13 others injured in Lyman in eastern Ukraine on Saturday (07.08.2023) after the city was hit by Russian missiles, Ukraine’s Interior Ministry said.
“So far we know that about eight people have died… The number of injured has risen to 13,” the ministry said on social media.
The strike action took place around 10:00 a.m. local time at two intersections heavily frequented by pedestrians.
A residential building, a printing pavilion and three cars were burned down in the attack, the ministry said.

The head of the UN nuclear regulatory agency has completed inspections of several areas of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.
Earlier, Ukraine claimed that an “external object similar to an explosive device” was placed on the roof of the compound.
UN officials said they saw “no evidence of explosives or mines” when visiting the cooling pools and other areas, but did not visit the roof of the facility.
