Diksia.com - Several American politicians are backing Israel’s renewed large-scale attack on the refugee camp in Jenin, the occupied West Bank, which took place on Monday, July 4, 2023, at midnight.
According to the latest reports, the attack has claimed the lives of nine Palestinians and left dozens injured.
Israel has deployed drones, bulldozers, and hundreds of soldiers in Jenin, in what is referred to as a counter-terrorism operation.
US politicians and pro-Israel groups argue that this is the largest military operation in the past 20 years and is an effort to address the activities of armed Palestinian groups in Jenin.
“Terrorist groups are proliferating, as are the killings of Israelis,” said the Democratic Majority for Israel group on Twitter, on Monday, July 3, 2023, as quoted by Al Jazeera.
Following the large-scale attack in Jenin, the Palestinian Authority (PA) has suspended security coordination with Israel.
This move is a protest against Israel’s attack on Jenin.
However, pro-Israel groups perceive the suspension of security coordination as a threat to Israel.
“With the PA relinquishing control, Israel has no choice but to defend itself,” the Democratic Majority for Israel group continued on Twitter.
Last week, the pro-Israel group AIPAC stated that Israel’s operation is part of an effort to prevent attacks and protect Israeli civilians from terrorism supported by Iran.
PM Netanyahu Praises US-Israel Relations
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the relationship between the United States and Israel in his speech at the US Independence Day event on Monday, July 3, 2023.
He described the US as an indispensable ally to Israel.
“America has provided Israel with moral and political support against those who seek to annihilate us, the only Jewish state,” Netanyahu said, as quoted by The Times of Israel.
“Security cooperation has never been better, intelligence sharing has never been deeper,” he added.
Netanyahu emphasized the role of his military, which he claimed is fighting terrorists.
