A report reveals that Algaba’s head is found floating downstream in a backpack a few days later.
Police found that Algaba had been shot three times and had his limbs “cleaned,” which only experienced criminals could do. Officials arrested one person in connection with the alleged murder.
Algaba is suspected of having accumulated bad debts with the Argentine tax authorities and of being associated with the Barra Bravas gang, who claim he owes USD 40,000 or the equivalent of IDR 603 million (at an exchange rate of IDR 15,095 per US dollar) . He is also said to owe Iglesias’ son $70,000, which he tried to get from Algaba.
This isn’t the first time a crypto millionaire has been kidnapped and brutally murdered. Previously, TheCoinRepublic reported on June 2, 2023 that John Forsyth, a “Bitcoin billionaire,” was found dead in the Northwest region of Arkansas and the founder of Onfocoin went missing on May 21.
The Forsyth family reported him missing that same day. An investigation was launched following the complaint, during which police and other relevant authorities found several important items, including a car, wallet, passport, driver’s license, briefcase and other items.
