Diksia.com - JAKARTA, As the largest automaker in Indonesia, Daihatsu has managed to produce up to 8 million units of four-wheel vehicles since its establishment in 1978.

After managing to produce 8 million gasoline-powered cars, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita called on PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) to start producing electric vehicles.

“The government encourages PT ADM to implement Innovation for Tomorrow, aiming to launch a range of electrified vehicles, both hybrid and fully electric, in Indonesia in 2025. This is in line with the actions of PT ADM. “awarded the Ayla EV prototype at GIIAS 2022,” said Agus at the production ceremony of 8 million Daihatsu units at ADM Sunter Assembly Plant in Jakarta on Friday (7/7/2023 ).

The industry minister added that since April 1, 2023, the government has issued an incentive policy for state-sponsored sales tax (PPN DTP) for electric cars and buses in order to accelerate the development of battery-based electric vehicles (KBLBB).

According to the Industry Ministry, thanks to this stimulus, electric car sales increased by 1,345 units in April, up 44 percent from sales in March, which were just 928 units.

“The government’s provision of KBLBB PPN DTP incentives and support programs for electric motorcycle purchases should encourage mass adoption of KBLBB and increase public access to purchase KBLBB at cheaper prices,” Agus said.
