The production ceremony was held at PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) at Sunter Assembly Plant in Jakarta on Friday (07/07/2023).
Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita expressed his highest appreciation to ADM, where PT ADM has produced more than 8 million units since its establishment in 1978, including the production of Toyota and Daihatsu brand cars for domestic and export markets, and Mazda Bongo brand , which is manufactured for export purposes.
“Of the total production of 8 million units, up to 17 percent or 1.34 million units are products that have been exported worldwide. The government also expressed its appreciation for PT ADM’s export performance in 2022, which reached 320,000 units, or 67 percent of total CBU exports.” “Indonesia recorded 473,000 units in 2022,” Agus said in his speech at the production ceremony of 8 million Daihatsu units on Friday (7/7/2023).
ADM is supported by five factories and various other facilities including RnD Center, Serive Part Center, Vehicle Logistic Center and Headquarters.
In addition, ADM has a production capacity of 530,000 units per year, making it one of the largest automobile manufacturers in Indonesia.
Daihatsu Indonesia is also a manufacturing and component base to meet the demand of both domestic and global markets of the Daihatsu and Toyota groups.
Yasushi Kyoda, President and Director of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor, said that reaching production of 8 million units is an important achievement for Daihatsu in its efforts to contribute to Indonesia’s development.

This success was also thanks to the support of stakeholders, involving more than 1,700 suppliers and 600 MSMEs in Indonesia. In the domestic market, Daihatsu has maintained the second-largest position in national auto retail sales for 14 consecutive years. ADM also exports its vehicles to more than 80 destination countries.
President of Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., Japan Soichiro Okudaira expressed appreciation for the achievement of producing 8 million Daihatsu units in Indonesia, where Daihatsu always tries to contribute to the automotive industry and society in Indonesia.
“Daihatsu is committed to continuing to support ADM, including through the realization of the construction of a new modern and environmentally friendly assembly plant in East Karawang in February 2023 in support of the carbon neutrality program, sustainable human resource development and vehicle development for the future.” said Okudaira.
Astra International Director Gidion Hasan explained that reaching a production of 8 million units in 2023 is the result of the effort and enthusiasm of Astra Daihatsu employees who always present their best work.
