Diksia.com - JAKARTA, Police are now allowed again to hand out manual fines to road users after obtaining permission from the Inspector General of Police after it was previously banned.

However, people need to know that not all traffic cops are allowed to issue manual fines for traffic violations as only certified Polantas are allowed to issue fines.

The matter was disclosed by the Inspector General of Polri Kakorlanta’s firman Shantyabodi, citing instructions from Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo. Firman said officers who could issue fines on the road are only those with pocket receipts.

Therefore, not all police officers on the street have tickets.

“The instructions from the Inspector General of Police are clear, now those who are allowed to impose fines are certified investigators.” Therefore, not all members on the street are provided with tickets,” Firman said in the Hearing Meeting (RDP) with DPR Commission III on Wednesday (07/05/2023).

According to Firman, the ticket is related to the consequences of the incentives received later.

“Since this ticket is also later rewarded with the received incentives, hopefully this can be cut from the ticket fund incentive funds both in the back office and in the field officials,” he said.

He mentioned that many officials actually want to be put on the streets.

However, Firman stressed that the power to impose fines is only vested in officials who meet certain qualifications and hold a certificate.

“Usually they just want to go out on the street, we say they have to have certain certificates and qualifications, then they get a ticket and they get incentives,” he explained.

There are currently 4,058 accident investigators, of which 2,437 are SKEP investigators (decree) and 524 employees are certified as accident investigators.

Earlier, Kombes Jaya Metro Police traffic director Latif Usman said not all traffic cops were issued with tickets in this case.

“We don’t give speeding tickets to random officers, we give them to officers who are qualified to avoid complaints,” he explained.
