Diksia.com - JAKARTA, PT Indonesia Battery Industry or Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) through Antam and Inarum promotes the development of electric vehicle (Electric Vehicle/EV) ecosystem in Indonesia.
To achieve this, IBC not only works in synergy with local partners, but also with global partners to drive the development of the EV and battery ecosystem, especially in terms of technology.
At the “Business Forum: Developing Electronic Vehicle Systems” activity held in Hong Kong on June 30, 2023, it was explained that IBC is developing an integrated end-to-end battery ecosystem.
MIND ID’s main director, Hendi Plio Santoso, said MIND ID’s support is not limited to supplying nickel raw materials, but will also help supply aluminum and copper.
“MIND ID as a mining holding will fully support the realization of accelerated EV ecosystem in Indonesia,” he said, as quoted from Kontan, Monday (March 7, 2023). .
Hendy hopes that this good cooperation will be a good start. Therefore, this cooperation will bring great benefits for Indonesia.
On the other hand, this is also a challenge for the electric two-wheeler (E2W) automotive industry. There are at least 125 million electric vehicles in Indonesia.
The fossil fuels currently in use will undergo a transition to clean energy. The government itself has also set his E2W adoption targets of 6 million (2025), 9 million (2030) and 12 million (2035).
Customers also have their own expectations of E2W, including safety, total cost of ownership, and mileage concerns.
Regarding security, customers are concerned about vehicle safety in various situations such as floods and accidents.
Customers also expect the total cost of ownership of an electric motorcycle to be lower than a bike with an internal combustion engine (ICE) combustion system.
In addition, customers are also concerned that the mileage of electric bikes is still lower than that of ICE bikes.
Meeting these customer expectations requires innovation in standards compliance, business models and E2W infrastructure.
It is important to ensure that all his E2W components comply with generally accepted standards such as UNR136, SNI and ISO.
Certain business model innovations, such as selling electric motorcycles without batteries, can also be realized. The battery used is a rental system.
As for E2W infrastructure, SPBKLU, SPKLU and batteries should be standardized to create an open and integrated ecosystem for E2W, allowing industry players to develop infrastructure at scale. With the right infrastructure, mileage is no longer an obstacle.
According to IBC President Director Toto Nugroho, the battery asset management service effort has so far been implemented through two memorandums dated March 23, 2023 and June 12, 2023.
This step gave birth to Battery Energy Swap technology by IBC, making it the first two-wheel EV battery swapping business to operate on a global scale.
“Benefits include reduced range and anxiety for swaps and charging stations, reduced down payment, minimized infrastructure investment, ease of operation and maintenance, integration of big data management and payment systems, etc. “He said.
Meanwhile, the Battery Asset Management Service (BAMS) was born in cooperation with China’s BUMN consortium (Fulcrum), Indonesia’s BUMN, and the private sector.
BAMS is an open and integrated e-bike ecosystem platform that provides applications for various brands of e-bikes, including batteries, swapping and charging stations, and convertible e-bikes.
Regarding this activity, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir also opened an office in BUMN and launched Indonesia Incorporated (Inc).
The office is located at 16 Harcourt Rd, Admiralty Road, Hong Kong, at the confluence of BNI Hong Kong branch in Far East Finance Center.
“We hope that the presence of the Indonesian entity will strengthen the position of state-owned enterprises in global competition,” said Eric Tohir.
Over the years, he argues, he has witnessed a phenomenal development of state-owned enterprises in both domestic and global markets.
Therefore, state-owned enterprises are expected to leverage their strengths and capabilities for more and more widespread strategic partnerships and investments in Indonesia.
