DIKSIA.COM - JAKARTA, The 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) auto show will be swamped with an array of the latest four-wheel automotive brands set to make their presence felt in Indonesia. Some of them will come from the land of pandas, China.
One of these brands is Great Wall. Great Wall automotive brand will gain a foothold in Indonesia and will be unveiled for the first time at GIIAS 2023 by Indomobil Group in partnership with global automotive distribution company Inchcape.
Inchcape Plc. itself has entered into a global strategic partnership with Great Wall Motor Company Limited (GWM). In China, GWM or Great Wall is a leading private automobile company.
Indonesia is said to be the first market for Inchcape where Inchcape and GWM have signed a distribution agreement.
Through this agreement, Inchcape will offer GWM superior distribution capabilities and this is the first market in which Inchcape will market a brand that primarily offers new energy vehicles.
The distribution agreement in Indonesia includes vehicles from the GWM brands, including Haval, Ora and Tank.
Inchcape will conduct this distribution through a joint venture with PT Indomobil Sukses Internasional Tbk, which previously had a strong partnership with Inchcape for vehicle distribution in Indonesia.
Inchcape holds a 70 percent share in this joint venture and Indomobil a 30 percent share.
The cooperation between Inchcape and GWM not only affects the sale of new vehicles, but also used vehicles and vehicle financing.
Great Wall is currently one of the strongest players in the battery electric vehicle and hybrid vehicle business.
Clyde Cheng, President of Great Wall Motor ASEAN, said Indonesia is one of the largest auto markets in Southeast Asia.
“Indonesia plays an important role in the GWM strategy in ASEAN. We are very excited to form a partnership with Inchcape and work together to reach the Indonesian market,” he said in a written statement, quoted on Saturday, July 8, 2023.
He said GWM is transforming into a global company focused on new intelligent energy technologies, and new energy vehicles have been marketed in 170 countries and regions.
